Gifted children typically stand out from their peers in different ways. Characteristics could include ease of academics, ability to memorize and retain facts quickly, extensive vocabulary, thinking outside the box, witty sense of humor, and a preference to interact with older individuals.
Gifted identification typically requires an overall IQ Standard Score of 130 or higher on a standardized intellectual assessment and school districts may require a completion of a characteristics checklist to qualify of an Educational Plan (EP). Space Coast Educational Evaluations offers IQ testing in order to help understand your child's cognitive process and provides insights into individual abilities.
Is your child struggling academically in the school setting despite parent efforts and interventions in the classroom? Does your child remember information one day but forget it the next? There are many reasons as to why a student may struggle in the school environment.
Learning disability testing is individualized based on the needs of the child. Space Coast Educational Evaluations investigates learning disabilities with a psycho-educational evaluation tailored to the child in order to answer why the child is struggling. Testing could include academic achievement, intelligence, processing, memory, and/or social and emotional screeners. The psycho-educational evaluation can be used to help design interventions for parents and schools and help determine if an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for Exceptional Education Services (ESE) may be recommended.
The three types of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are hyperactivity/impulsivity, inattentive, and combined type. If your child has difficulty focusing, staying organized, and/or managing behaviors, is may be due to ADHD. Each individual may display different characteristics based on the type of ADHD. Space Coast Educational Evaluations can evaluate to help in identifying the characteristics of ADHD. The evaluation will be tailored to the individual and may include executive functioning, cognitive, academic, and processing testing in addition to teacher/parent rating scales. The evaluation can provide information in order to help guide parents, pediatricians, and schools towards appropriate treatments and/or accommodations in the classroom.
